The purpose of the work is to design and construct exploratory development models of a fast warmup 5 MHz tactical miniature crystal oscillator TMXO. The total package is to be contained within a volume not to exceed 5 cubic inches, operate in an ambient temperature range of -40 to 75C with a maximum permissible frequency deviation of plus or minus 1 X 10 to the minus 8th power. Available power to heat the temperature sensitive elements of the TMXO from ambient to 85C in one minute is 10 watts operating power after warmup will be limited to 250 milliwatts. An output frequency deviation, after a 30 day stabilization period, of less than plus or minus 2 X 10 to the minus 10th power per week is required, as well as a short term stability of plus or minus 1 X 10 to the minus 11th power for periods of time ranging from 1 sec to 20 min.
