Abstract:

Two Marine Corps VHF-FM radio equipments are analyzed to determine the constraints to be placed on their use when tactically deployed. The equipments are the ANTRC-166, ANPRC-25 Manpack Radio with the ANPCC-1 four- channel multiplex Telegraph-Telephone Terminal Set, and the ANMRC-109 Vehicle- Mounted Radio Set with either the four-channel ANVCC-1 ANMRC-134 or the eight-channel ANVCC-2 ANMRC-135 multiplex Telegraph-Telephone Terminal Sets. Procedures that incorporate knowledge of terrain, path loss and frequency- distance separation criteria, are developed to assist communicators in the selection of frequencies for operation of ANMRC-134135 and ANTRC-166 VHF-FM radios in the field.
