Catalysts are a necessary part of an air decontaminating unit when low-boiling fuel gases must be oxidized to aid separation of these contaminants from oxygen and nitrogen. Of eight catalysts evaluated one may be best for a given fuel-gas contaminant but not for others. It was determined that methane, the most difficult fuel gas to oxidize, may be oxidized at 950F rather than at 1200F. Author
