The report contains the findings, conclusions, and recommendations resulting from an engineering study of the drawings and specifications relating to the manufacture and automatic assembly of metal parts for the XM223, Fuze and Body Assembly. The purpose of the study was to determine the changes required in fuze detail parts and automatic assembly machines to increase production rates and minimize costs without adversely affecting reliability of components. The objectives were achieved by listing the individual problems that occurred on each machine and correcting these problems or recommending a solution by simplifying or modifying fuze parts, tooling, and the automatic assembly machines.
