Abstract:

The instrument is used to measure the frictional force generated during plastic deformation, and permits the direct measurement of the coefficient of friction. The meter consists of a base on which the tested material is placed a block through which the load is transferred to the material, consisting of two sliding plates and a recording instrument, measuring the displacement of the plates. It incorporates also a further plate, mounted above the block, and a set of rollers. The rollers fit loosely into grooves in each of the plates. Author
