Studies were made of the elastic modulus and the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of perlite-containing porcelain mixes for household products. Raw material composition is given. From the data it is seen that the magnitude of the elastic modulus is influenced to a great extent by the nature of the non-plastic materials introduced into the mix. In this case a replacement of the feldspar by perlite led to a decrease in the elastic modulus of the porcelain mix. This result is worthy of further study, as the elastic modulus is one of the factors which specifies the roasting conditions of ceramic products.
