Abstract:
The results of work on evaluating possible circuits and the electrical and dimensional characteristics of superconducting a-c power transmission for the purpose of developing their possibilities in the transport of large amounts of power are presented. A method of calculating the fundamental electrical parameters and structural dimensions of lines with coaxial current-carrying elements taking into account a number of technical limitations, and especially the limitation of the power to be transmitted with the condition of steady-state stability is given. The question of reaching an optimum relationship between the powers which are maximum under the conditions of retaining the superconducting state and of the steady-state stability of power transmission is examined.
