Abstract:
A very precise velocimeter has been developed and used to measure changes in the speed of sound as a function of the contration of aqueous electrolyte solutions. The experimental results indicated that the speed of sound can be measured with a precision of plus or minus 3 cmsec. The ratios of superposition frequencies vs. pressure, over the pressure range of 0 to 1500 psi in increments of 500 psi, and temperature, over the temperature range of 35 to 55C in increments of 10C, were obtained.
