Abstract:
The effect of a generally reinforcing environment on risk taking in decision making was investigated. Groups of subjects were exposed to operant reinforcement of complex integrated decisions, or probability learning, or no reinforcement. It was found that control groups did not differ from operant groups in their level of risk taking. Groups exposed to probability reinforcement took fewer risks than either of the other two groups. The obtained results were tentatively explained as an effect of the complex environment in which the research was carried out. Author
