Abstract:

The assumption that the effectiveness of cavitation as a means of initiating detonation decreases during heating of liquid explosives and increases during cooling is experimentally checked for four explosives nitroglycerin, stoichiometric solutions of benzene, heptane, and methanol in tetranitromethane. The effect of the vapor tension of the liquid explosives at various temperatures on detonation by caviatation is discussed.
