Abstract:

Calculated and experimental data are given for systems involving initial formation of a beam of ions of hydrogen for the specific case of an incompressible beam with a current of 24 ma and with an extraction voltage of 40 Kv. An account is given of the Pearce optifal system, of the defocussing action of the extractor hole and of the free dispersion of the beam behind the extractor. The caluclated and experimental curves of the ion beam are compared. Author
