Abstract:

A program of field tests was conducted with the Marsh Screw Amphibian to evaluate its performance on a range of soil conditions. Performance was expressed in terms of ability to travel 50 passes in the same path, maneuverability, speed, drawbar pull, and slope-climbing ability. Soil conditions were described in terms of soil type, moisture content, density, and cone index. Relations between vehicle performance and soil condition are presented.
