Anti-fret treatments such as surface coating with epoxy resins loaded with molybdenum disulphide MoS2, anodising, shot peening and nickel diffusion are described in some detail. The fretting fatigue properties of Aluminium Alloys D.T.D. 5070A, RR.58, Titanium Alloys I.M.I. 230, I.M.I. 318A and I.M.I. 685 and the influence of different surface treatments are shown for temperatures ranging from ambient up to 500C.
