Abstract:
The paper considered the inverse scattering problem for photoelectric measurements of reflected sunlight from specular ovaloid satellites. The scattered intensity is shown to be inversely proportional to the Gaussian curvature, which is similar to the dependence of radar cross sections for conducting bodies in the geometrical optics limit. The differential equation relating shape to curvature maps is derived and the limitations of its application discussed. Author
