Abstract:
Aqueous and alkaline hydrolysis of some pentavalent trifluoromethylphosphoryl and -thiophosphoryl compounds and some trifluoromethylphosphines produced the ions CF32PO2-, CF32PSO-, CF32PO2-, CF3PS2O2-, CF3PSO22-, CF3PO32-, CF3PS2OH-, CF3PSO2H-, and CF3PHO2- in solution. The previously unknown sulfur-containing ions have been identified and characterized by their 19F nmr spectra in aqueous solution. The 19F nmr solution spectra of the wholly oxygenated anions which were initially characterized elsewhere are also reported. The ions CF3PS2OH- and CF3PSO2H- have been isolated as the tetraphenylarsonium salts and characterized by analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Author
