Abstract:

The antifriction properties and wear resistance of bearings made of reinforced epoxy resin are reported. The resin was reinforced with cotton fabric by winding and hardened with polyethylene-polyamide. The bearings were compared with bearings made of secondary capron, polyamide 68 and metallurgical textolite. The nature of change in coefficient of friction with friction speed is the same for the new material as for the older materials tested. Coefficient of friction at first decreases, then remains almost constant with increasing friction speed. The tests indicated that the new bearings have significantly greater service life and operational qualities than the older materials tested. Author, modified-PL
