Abstract:
The 4th Weather Wing has been developing procedures for the incorporation of computerderived weather map types into a terminal forecast system. This requires the production of an area synoptic map type catalog, which would be the basis for a real time computerized analog system. Once the analog correlation is established, the computer could evaluate prestored probability tables andor objective forecast studies for the occurrence or nonoccurrence of various phenomena. This computer output would provide a valuable first approximation for the local forecast. The forecaster would then accept, reject, or modify the statistical forecast depending upon his appraisal of other available meteorological information. Author
