Abstract:

Several instrumentation systems were installed at the Crowley Test Site in Colorado to measure the dust lofting parameters associated with passage of the air blast from detonation of a 100-ton sphere of TNT. Dust density history at two elevations was measured with a microwave system. Dust cloud height growth was measured with a high speed camera system. Particle velocity was measured with impact plates. Initial and final positions of particles and mass lofting efficiency were measured by use of color coded beads. Author
