Abstract:

The electronic beam consolidating device, e.g. for drawing discharging particles into a closer relation with one another, consists of the cathode, directing electrode and anode fitted with holes or slits, and a resonance system which is excited by the generator. The operation of the device in either Class B or C configuration is discussed as to how the applied power can force the beam of emitted particles into the desired trajectory. Two variations of the beam consolidating device are illustrated. Typical applications are in UHF equipment giving increased power-amplification factor, and also as the gun for use with a linear accelerator. Author
