Abstract:

The report follows DDCs development of a Natural Language Data Base NLDB from its inception to the present. The project is one of three underway at DDC that deal with natural language processing. The NLDB will serve as an interface between the output of the Machine-Aided Indexing MAI project and the computer files. It will serve a similar function in relationship to the Machine-Aided Retrieval project. The report emphasizes the creation of an initial model of the NLDB from data generated by the MAI project.
