Abstract:
1,2,3,5,6,7-Hexahydrobenzo1,2-c4,5-cdipyrrole, also called di- isoindoline, has been synthesized and characterized both spectroscopically and by means of suitable derivatives. It is a potential starting material for numerous syntheses and is suitable for copolymerization to form new copolymers. Evidence of the potential of di-isoindoline as a monomer for producing high thermal capacity polysulfones and polyamides is obtained from the observed high melting points of the ditosyl and diacetyl derivatives.
