The object of the study was to improve the airflow characteristics of a low speed, open-circuit wind tunnel to allow its use for studying the impaction mechanisms of particles on collectors. Modifications to the settling chamber and transition section of the tunnel are described that resulted in an improved speed range and an acceptable constant turbulence level. Vertical and horizontal profiles of the longitudinal turbulent velocity component were obtained with a constant temperature anemometer.
