Abstract:
The purpose was to study the feasibility of using bamboo as the reinforcing material in precast concrete elements. The objectives were to 1 determine the load-carrying capabilities and deflection limitations of precast concrete flexural elements with bamboo reinforcement under both short-term and sustained loads and 2 modify current ultimate strength design and area-moment procedures, as necessary, so that ultimate moments and deflections of bamboo- reinforced concrete elements can be reasonably estimated.
