Abstract:

An effective interface between the System Program Office SPO and its associated Air Force Plant Representative Office AFPRO is essential in the acquisition of major Air Force defense systems. In this study, responses made to a functional relationship questionnaire by SPO and AFPRO personnel are subjected to quantitative and qualitative analysis. Personnel from three major aircraft acquisition programs provided the response data the C-5A, the F-15, and the B-1. Similarities and differences among these programs, in the area of SPO AFPRO functional interface, are evaluated based on the commentary of the questionnaire respondents and interview subjects. Concluding comments are directed at increasing the effectiveness of the SPO-AFPRO functional interface.
