Abstract:
The thesis investigates the effect that air freight theftpilferage has had on the growth of the air freight industry. A survey of 219 shippers has indicated the following conclusions 1 The exact losses through theftpilferage is unknown. 2 A significant percentage of the shippers are dissatisfied with security at air freight terminals. 3 Low freight liability statutes are reflected in poor secuirty conditions at air freight terminals. 4 Deceptive techniques are being taken by shippers to protect goods shipped by air freight. 5 The high theftpilferage rate is not a limiting factor in the growth of the air freight industry.
