Abstract:
A comparative study was performed where different shipping label covers were affixed to porous weather-resistant, triple-wall fiberboard boxes and subjected to an outdoor weathering environment for a six-month period. Even though the water-resistant brush-on adhesive technique has been used for many years on shipping labels, the study indicated that pressure-sensitive, transparent tape overlay material available today was equal to the performance of brush-on for a 1-12 month period and was significantly better after six-months weathering.
