Abstract:
A large number of sulfosalt compounds was investigated to determine the usefulness of such materials as infrared window materials, particularly at 10.6 micrometers. Polycrystalline synthesis were followed in a few instances by crystal-growth experiments and determination of absorption coefficients. Of the many materials examined, TlInS2, TlGaSe2, and TlAsSe3 show most promise as window materials in fact, the best measured absorption coefficient for Fl3AsSe3 0.016cm is the lowest ever measured on a material of this type. Particularly for Tl3AsSe3, it propagation through the crystal.
