Abstract:

The report describes the synthesis of CF2Cl-CF2NO using NOCl and FeCl3 as a catalyst. The FeCl3 also forms an addition complex with the nitorso compound. The compound, UO2NO32H2ON2O4, was used to nitrate CF2CFCl as a means of producing nitroso compounds by stopping the reaction before completion. The reduction of fluoronitro alkanes was also tried. As a precursor to imine synthesis, CF3-CF2-CF2-CHOH-CH2NO2 was prepared.
