Abstract:
Results of an experimental investigation is described to determine the feasibility of intermittent jet blowing to achieve reduced air flow rates as compared with steady blowing for prevention or delay of flow separation on a trailing edge flap. The jet was directed tangential to the flap surface in a downstream direction. The results show that significant reductions in mass flow rate could be realized at a given flap lift effectiveness.
