Abstract:
The objectives of this study were to measure all ground motions in the outrunning region produced by the Mineral Rock Event of Operation Mine Shaft. The Mineral Rock Event was a duplication of the Mine Ore Event of the same series, and was a 100-ton sphere of TNT placed with the center of gravity 0.9 charge radius about 7.2 feet above the ground surface. Accelerometers and velocity gages were installed from 200 to 500 feet from ground zero at depths of 2, 10, and 18 feet. Time histories of all successfully recorded gages are presented.
