A spill of 650,000 to 700,000 liter of No. 2 fuel oil on September 16, 1969 has contaminated the coastal areas of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. The chemical study is aimed at a documentation of the effects, the persistence and the eventual disappearance of the pollutant hydrocarbons in this area.
