Abstract:

The paper deals with experimental investigation of gas-dynamic properties of the laser plasma, created by focusing power laser radiation on the carbon target surface. The time dependence of the plasma pressure in the heated part, mass flux from the target surface and heated plasma mass are measured by the method of time scanning of the interferogram split image with an image converter tube. The gas-dynamic processes taking place in the heated plasma are discussed. It is observed that in the case of a multimode Q-switched laser the plasma pressure maximum is reached at the pulse beginning. Maximum plasma pressure reaches up to 10superscript 6 barr at a laser energy of 8 joules. Author
