Abstract:
One of the most time-consuming operations in physical oceanography is the computation of density values from observed temperatures and salinities. Although a number of slide rules and nomograms have been devised for the purpose, an operator must use them frequently in order to develop proficiency and retain efficiency. For large-scale operations, high-speed electronic computers are available. The tables have been designed for the use of research worker who has occasional requirements for the computation of sea water density of a high order of accuracy. The arrangement of the tables requires a minimum of of interpolation, and the layout and binding have been designed to facilitate ready reference. Author
