Abstract:

A safety program requires reliable accident data to assist in determining the accident sources as well as factors in need of correction to prevent future accidents. Two main prerequisites are that the data be compiled as quickly as possible following an accident and that it be as free of error as possible. The study is a comparison of two accident reporting systems, one used by the Department of the Army, the other by the Department of the Interior. A completely coded system appears promising.
