Abstract:

Selected fracture specimens from the NRL program on the effects of minor elements of the behavior of A302-B steel were examined in the scanning electron microscope and the electron microprobe analyzer. Iron tensile specimens were prepared for irradiation with the NRL pressure vessel simulation experiment in the IRL reactor and for other irradiations in the MIT anD UCC reactors. A feasibility study was made to determine whether hydrogen implanted in iron by proton bombardment would form grain boundary bubbles or other observable defects.
