Abstract:
The complex interaction of creep and fatigue in nickel and iron specimens was investigated through the combined application of static and high frequency vibratory stress. The development of a novel measuring technique, which utilizes Barkhausen noise as a probe to monitor changes in the microstructure of metals under dynamic conditions, provided the first real time observations of vibratory annealing, high frequency, work hardening, and plastic flow.
