Abstract:

A study was made to Investigate the relation between strength, fracture energy, and microstructure basically, it was the purpose of this task to determine why silicon nitride is so strong relative to other ceramics Determine the hot-pressing behavior of silicon nitride with an emphasis on the role of the additive required to densify silcon nitride powder Study the densification of silicon nitride by the powder-vehicle hot-pressing technique and dtermine the limitations of this technique Determine the dielectric properties of reaction-sintered and hot-pressed silicon nitride between 1-10 GHz.
