The research is aimed at contributing to the understanding of how lattice defects, in particular point defects and their interactions, are associated with the early stages of cyclic deformation of fcc metals. Defect production and defect interactions have been studied as a function of the number of deformation cycles of constant stress or constant strain amplitude. Residual electrical resistivity measurements have been made to monitor the defect production and the subsequent recovery. Modulus measurements have been used in an attempt to identify interactions involving dislocations, and mechanical test have been performed to study cyclic stress-strain behavior. Author
