The authors have pursued slip band formation and crack initiation as a function of frequency in titanium Contimet 30. The specimens were loaded at 0.5, 5 and 50 Hz with a stress amplitude of 20.5 kpsq mm in a Schenck servohydraulic fatigue testing machine. In an Amsler resonance testing machine the specimens were loaded at a frequency of 90 Hz with stress amplitudes of between 17.5 and 20 kpsq mm. Results are discussed.
