Abstract:
The report describes a study that investigated the technical and economic feasibility of developing a Portable Theodolite System possessing accuracy and stability comparable to that inherent in larger non-portable theodolite systems. The investigations performed during the study effort resulted in a recommended configuration for the portable theodolite system. This configuration consists of an alt-azimuth mount incorporating a joystick controlled velocity feedback servo drive for both axes of rotation. A 5-inch aperture, f5, afocal Cassegrain objective is utilized for both tracking and recording by means of a beamsplitter prism arrangement. Author
