Abstract:

Time resolved spectral opacities were observed in high density nanosecond sparkchannels by application of a method developed by Meiners. The sparkchannel was backimaged into its origin by means of a surface mirror which reflected in separated parallel stripes only. Thus the reflected light penetrated the channel in zones parallel to its axis. In case of a cylindrical symmetry the absorption coefficient profile from the axis to its periphery can be calculated from the ratio of the spectral emissivity with and without reflexion. In addition the relative emission coefficient, the relative temperature and the optical density profile can be determined. Author
