Multiple-Pulse Monopulse Accuracy

The report presents results from a simulation of an amplitude comparison monopulse system employing pulse integration multiple pulses. Maximum-likelihood-angle estimators and approximations to them are derived. The accuracies precision and bias of these estimators are obtained by computer simulation for coherent and incoherent processing, and targets located on- and off-boresight. Results are presented as functions of signal-to-noise ratio and number of pulses integrated. The effects of imperfect knowledge of target doppler, phase, and amplitude are included. Theoretical bounds on the precision of the estimators are derived and compared with the simulation results.
