Abstract:

Results of an experimental study of steel A-12, Brass LS-59 and alloy D-16 undergoing torsion tests on a modernized KM-50-1 machine are described. A monotonic decrease in both the strength and plasticity properties of the materials is observed after a fairly long period of prior exposure to the action of ultrasonic waves and during testing in the course of exposure to ultrasonic waves. During short-term prior exposure of D-16 to ultrasonic waves an increase in the strength and plasticity properties is observed. A subsequent increase in the time of prior exposure to ultrasonic waves leads to softening of the material. Author
