Five full-scale blast tests with the Hawk antiaircraft missile were conducted on ceramic-coated aluminum panels assembled to form a blast pad about 24 by 28 ft. Five firings of the missile were made at elevations of 70, 59, 51, 56, and 51 deg with the blasts impinging over separate local areas of the aluminum pad. It is recommended that additional field tests of the ceramic-coated panels be conducted with the Hawk missile and other tactical missiles to permit conclusive evaluation of the capability of the panels to provide ground blast protection at missile sites during launchings.
