Abstract:

Previously a technique was described for obtaining a multi-purpose motor oil additive which has good detergent-dispersive properties owing to the interaction of phosphorus pentasulphide with olefinic hydrocarbon polymers C3-C5, followed by treatment of the reactions product with alcanolamine C2-C12. But this additive still lacks sufficient antioxydant qualities at high temperatures. The method proposed in the report makes it possible to obtain an additive with both high temperature antioxidant and detergent-dispersive cleaning properties. It differs in that a known additive is treated at 140-280C with a boron compound such as boracic acid or its polymers. Author
