Abstract:

Two-body neutralization cross sections have been measured for O O-, NO O-, O2 O3-1, Na O-, O2 O2-, NO NO2-, N2 NO2-1, NO NO3-, O2 NO3-, H H-, H2 D-, and He D-. The relative energy range covered lies from 0.15 eV to 300 eV except for the He D- system whose energy range is from 30 eV to 400 eV. The data for these systems, excepting He D-, have been extrapolated and thermally averaged to yield reaction rates at 300K. Atomic ion-ion neutralization cross sections have been calculated for some systems using a multistate Landau-Zener method. The agreement between theoretical and experimental results is generally within a factor of 2. Author
