The technical and economic feasibility of constructing and operating a large glass reinforced plastic GRP cargo vessel or, using GRP for major structural components on a steel cargo ship, have been evaluated. Structure is feasible long-term durability, questionable. The design of a large GRP CARGO VESSEL USING A COMPOSITE UNIDIRECTIONAL-WOVEN ROVING LAMINATE IS PRESENTED AND COMPARED TO THE EQUIVALENT STEEL SHIP. Cost studies are included.
