Abstract:

The standard potentials for the cells AgAgCl in Li,KClAgNO3 in Li,KNO3Ag at 400C and AgAgCl in Li,KClAg2SO4 in Li,Na,K2SO4Ag at 550C are 0.687 and 0.718V, respectively, on the mole fraction scale. The cells AgAgNO3 in Na,KNO3Na,KNO3NO2, O2, Pt, or Au and AgAg2SO4 in Li,Na,K2SO4Li,Na,K2SO4SO3, O2, Pt show reversible behavior and good Nernstian response on variation of the partial pressures of the gases by means of a versatile gas-flow system.
