The Errors in Plasma Measurements by the Microwave Cavity Techniques

The report presents the results of a theoretical and experimental study of the microwave cavity techniques used in measuring electron density and collison frequency in transient plasmas. Sources of errors are discussed and certain calibration procedures are recommended to minimize the error. In particular, the abnormal negative glow discharge in helium is presented as an inexpensive reference plasma for calibration purposes.
