Abstract:

When a computation can be viewed as a collection of modules acting concurrently on units of data passed between them, the computation may be implemented as a collection of coroutines. Each routine has an associated point of reactivation that indicates at what statement action by the routine is to be continued when it is activated. One of the routines is designated to be executed initially. Control is given to other routines by activate r statements which cause the specified routine to continue from its reactivation point after redefining its own reactivation point as the statement immediately following the activate statement.
